Thick and Thin Yarn - Naturally Dyed Black
This slub yarn has been naturally dyed for us in Chile using a combination of local dye plants: maqui & romerillo plus clay. The ability to dye black yarn is a highly-prized skill in indigenous Chilean culture, and it can take many hours and large amounts of plant matter to achieve a strong black tone.
100% sheep's wool.
Hand wash, warm water, mild soap.
As a guide: 20g = 8-10m (approx)
PLEASE NOTE: this is a rustic, hand spun yarn, so please expect variations in thickness and texture. You may also find small pieces of plant material tangled in the fibres, as well as small amounts of clay residue from the dyeing process. I believe that this enhances the natural beauty of this hand produced item.
