learn to weave

weaving on a homemade frame loom

I was lucky enough to have been taught to weave by Jessica, one of our wonderful weavers in Chile. Since then I have been so inspired by the wisdom of the Mapuche, and, indeed, of all Chilean artisans, who instinctively recycle or "make do" whilst we, all too often, automatically look for the most sophisticated (read "expensive"!) equipment to make our lives "easier".

So I built my own loom from ash branches cut in the woods, with a couple of old fence posts and a broom handle to complete the job. And do you know what? It not only allows me to weave beautiful textiles, but it looks fab too.

I also teach decorative tapestry weaving with an emphasis upon textural techniques for woven wall hangings.

So, if either of these ideas appeal to you, I can arrange:

  • a visit to your Guild or group
  • an individual residential course in Mid Wales
  • or you can find out  about regular courses that I am running in Wales

If you would like to find out more about my weaving courses, please message me using the contact form below.

UNFORTUNATELY, DUE TO THE ON-GOING PANDEMIC, I AM NOT CURRENTLY OFFERING ANY WEAVING COURSES.
